By the Time You Read This, Obama Will Be President...
I have a had "something" this past week which prevented me from getting up the incentive to post a newsletter...a cold with no sniffles, or a "crud" with no fever, no bronchitis, and no sickness, or a "strep throat" without the strep...mainly a sore throat made sore by a "cold sore" or some other white sore thingy in my uvula which at first sight caused the fear of God in me (thinking, "Could this be cancer?"), but no, it's just the usual cold sore or canker sore or something. It is now gone and my throat feels fine, enabling me to write this post. Sorry for the delay. Just in time for the inauguration of Barack Obama to be our 44th President.
Depending on whom you give credibility to, Obama's presidency will either be a disaster or the best thing that will happen to the United States in many years. All this range of opinion can be found at one place, so I won't bother the reader with a zillion links to various websites: all ranges of optimism and pessimism, whichever you prefer, can be found at the sometimes invaluable FourWinds.com site. You can find articles about how Obama has "usurped" the presidency as he was not born in the US but Kenya [many linked either to Rense.com or News With Views (a site that features the invalubale Devvy Kidd), usually referencing World Net Daily's Campaign to Remove Obama (I wonder: would they be having a cow herd over this is Obama was Republican?)], and you can also find articles by Sucha Fool (aka Sorcha Faal) and "Intel Briefings" by Tom Heneghan, who believes Obama will destroy the Bush-Clinton-Crime-Family Biz, recover the Wanta funds for the benefit of the American people (and thus I believe this guy is naive, among other things), and will generally "set things right" because unlike Bush, Obama was "legitimately elected" (as, he believes, Al Gore should have been our previous president). And basically, every opinion about Obama's presidency from one extreme to the other can be found at Four Winds. You know, your "one stop shopping" source for Obama news...and the usual nonsense about ETs, "Enlightened Beings" and other new age BS. As for me, I read it all and weigh in the balance...I'll believe either side when I see it. But I think we'll know pretty much for sure soon enough.
Soon enough, as in how Obama reacts to what Israel has done in Gaza. I have been perfectly willing (thanks to an argument I had with my husband, who is staunchly pro-Israel) to voice my support for the efforts of the 3500 or so Palestinian Christians in Gaza to keep their faith and possibly try to find a way to bring peace there, somehow, the Lord willing. Or, just to morally support the existence of Christians in Gaza, because there is NO FREAKING WAY I am putting non-Messianic, Talmud-believing (or otherwise) Jews before Christians. NO FREAKING WAY!!! It AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! EVER! The first obligation of a Christian is to believe Christ is the way, the life, and the truth. The second obligation is to support fellow Christian brothers and sisters no matter where they are. Perfectly willing to let him keep supporting the so-called "Chosen People" though their descendants murdered Christ (and this is debatable, too, because Askenazi Jews are NOT physically descended from the Pharisees who mudered Him. Some of them are spiritually descended from them, however.). But then we both asked the question: so if Hamas has been rocketing Israel from the time of the second intafada, that is, for 8 years, why is it only now that Israel has responded like they have? Because, my husband said, showing what I thought was an unusual amount of discernment, God has put His "hooks" (see Ezekiel 38) into the Palestinians and Israelis. Not quite as it is written in Ezekiel, but a foretaste, perhaps. In other words, like it or not, this Gaza war stuff is God's doing. This doesn't mean that "Armegeddon" or "the rapture" is coming or anything like that. But, despite my agonizing over this on behalf of Christian brothers and sisters, God is in control. But back to Obama.
There is also much discussion on various sites whether or not Obama will continue the Bush tradition of kow-towing to Israel at every move. [Of course, kow-towing to Israel didn't start with Bush. I think it basically started during the 1967 Six Day War when Israel sank the USS Liberty (I think deliberately, but I may be wrong)]. This discussion was highlighted over the now infamous incident of Israeli Prime Minister Olmert ordering Bush to order Condi Rice to vote against her own UN ceasefire resolution, and doing so while Bush was lecturing, ordering Bush to stop lecturing to take his phone call--which if nothing else proves beyond a shadow of a doubt who runs the US! Note however that video of the lecture does NOT show Bush actually got off the lecture to take the phone call, as I had first believed. Still, if Olmert actually believed Bush would interrupt his speech to do Olmert's bidding... (I am using the Jerusalem Post link to just show that this is no conspiracy theory some alt bloggers made up.) Honey, it ain't us, the American people, that's for sure! I have been reading a flurry of posts just on this topic the past few days. Two good articles, one by William Pfaff and the other by Paul Craig Roberts, could make enlightened reading here and here. My own position on this dispute is that both sides are insane (see my last post here, but keep in mind that since Israel created Hamas in the first place, all of this carnage, including Hamas rocket attacks on mostly Sepharic Jews as well as Israel's use of the illegal and banned substance white phosphorus against civilians, UN schools and hospitals, etc., is certainly by design.)
I am going to leave the reader with four videos (one of which I may have posted earlier but is worth repeating). What these videos do is not to say I support one side over the other, but to say that if Obama continues to support Israel right or wrong, he may be swimming against the worldwide media tide, including what I think is a slow turning of the US mainstream media away from this position. The US MSM has not reported on Olmert's wagging the Bushian dog, but they really don't have to anymore, because American popular opinion on same is also changing, not to a pro-Hamas postion, but a general sympathy for the Palestinian civilians suffering because of Hamas and Israel's overkill. Besides, hundreds of sites are resounding with the clarion call that indeed AIPAC and Israel DO OWN the United States, Congress IS "Israeli-Occupied-Territory" (first coined by Pat Buchanon), and the so-called Jewish "conspiracy" DOES have merit...and, in one video of Israeli FM Livni being interviewed by the Press Club during her visit to DC, the US MSM now DOES know it, too! Who knows? Obama may be forced to bring a more balanced Middle East/Israel-Palestine position to the table. Enjoy the videos!

A final note: let no one say George W. Bush didn't do anything in a positive light that did not exclusively serve the rich before he left office. His final presidential pardons (commuted sentences) went to two Border Patrol agents who never should have went to jail in the first place, Ramos and Campeon. Good for you, W!
