Kosovo and its Lessons |

As promised to subscribers, I will get into the Kosovo issue, and, after a long drawn out explanation of the history of this region and why this issue is important to THEM, I will explain why Kosovo is important to us. The Kosovo issue may not seem like much. So what if this predominantly Albanian section of Serbia breaks off and becomes independent? Just as the Jews need a homeland (Israel) and just as the Chinese need a homeland and just as the Irish need a homeland...you get the idea. In fact it is my contention that every single ethnic group should have its own homeland, including the Palestinians. The thing is, Kosovo, that is Kosovars, is NOT an ethnic group. Since 1389 when the Ottomans defeated the Serbs in the Battle of Kosovo, in an area of the world, the Balkans, that was overrun by the Ottoman Empire, the Serbs had increasingly made up the majority of the population, until about the late 1800s. Between World War One and World War Two, Kosovo became increasingly Albanian. However, Nazi sympathizers in the ethnic Albanian Ustashe, a group similar to Italy's Fascists or Hungary's Iron Cross or other pro-Nazi groups, helped the Germans invade Serbia, and the Nazis rewarded the Albanians with a chance to re-populate Kosovo with a majority as the Nazis and their Albanian enablers proceeded to fight against the Serbs in Kosovo. Yet, even according to Wikipedia (and their maps on their "History of Kosovo" page), Kosovo was NEVER a part of Albania. Some bloggers and media people believe that eventually, along with part of Macedonia as well as Greece that host majority Albanian populations, Kosovo will be incorporated into Albania itself. Because of the nature of Albanian history and culture, this may be true. THEY might want a "Greater Albania," but I submit that if this is THEIR plan, THEY will rue the day THEY allowed this to happen. Why? Because, I, for one, really don't feel like crossing a bunch of Albanians! This long-suffering people has some A-B-Cs on their side. |

And, now, for a very short history of Albania and Albanians: the A, B, and C. "A" is for "ancient" Albania, that is, its history priot to its independence from the Ottomans in 1912. The Albanians are descended from the ancient Illyrians. These people were the shock troops of the Roman Empire as well as the fact that they made up the better portion of the most feared troops of the old Ottoman and Islamic forces, the Janissaries. All of this is on the website Albanian.com as well as Wikipedia under "History of Albania", which provides the best comprehensive information on Albanian history up until its independence. A few other very important facts: first is that there really are two Albanias. One is Christian and the other is Muslim (Muslims make up the majority and Albania is the only country so far in Europe with a majority Muslim population.). One is lowland (Tosks) and the other is highland (Ghegs) in a country which is mostly mountainous with some very good land in the lowland areas near the Adriatic Sea; its capital, Tirana, borders the upland area and, surrounded by mountains on three sides, is by virtue of this extremely air polluted, like Denver, LA, or El Paso during certain weather conditions. One is (as far as it could be, having technologically been 19th century until about 10 years ago) "modern" and the other is still nearly feudalistic, with families headed by tribal lords and women being lower than cattle--this is the highland area. In fact, it is also true that during the 40 plus year reign of Communist strongman Enver Hoxha, Hoxha barely had any influence on the rugged highland areas which remained as they had for about 1,000 years--extremely backward. Perhaps the reason for this is the "B": blood fued. It is a traditional practice even today, and has been for about 1,000 or more years, for a family in which a member is killed, where a surviving family member avenges that person's death, which, of course, means that when that family member is avenged, then the other family who killed the member of the first family, avenges that killing. And so on and so forth. The practice has been documented in the writings of Albania's greatest writer, Ismael Kadare; I read about this in his novel, "The Wedding." Which leads to the "C": the Code of Lek, named for a leader (against the Ottomans) by the name of Lek Dukagjini. This was the previously unwritten "law" of the highlands especially, which culturally and procedurally ruled Albania since about the year 1500. It was only written down recently because Albania didn't have a written language until 1908! So that, even under a Communism that tried to bring Albania into the 20th century (the first university was built in 1957, the first railroads built in the 60s and the first airport in the 70s, with equal rights for women only coming in the late 60s--but in fact not to the highlands because powerful feudal interests would have none of their women freed of chattle slavery), modernity only came to the lowlands and lower highlands where blood fueding was effectively ended. Hoxha, himself, never went into the upper highlands when he was head of the government--there was a "price on his head"! All of this, folks, sounds fantastic but it is true. For further reading on how Hoxha could not tame the wild highlands, get yourself a copy of a book first published in China in the Mao years, "The History of the Party of Labor of Albania." I had a copy, but have since lost it. Who knows? You might be able to Google it, but I doubt if it is still in print. But if you can't find it, buy P. J. O'Rourke's "Eat the Rich" and read his chapter on Albania, "Bad Capitalism." And here is why all this I wrote is important today: the descendents of those tribal warlord families in upland Albania are also today's descendents of those same warlords--the upper Albanian highlands extend to a rich, flat high plain known as Kosovo...the Albanians call it "Kosova" (as does, expediently, Hillary Clinton). And another thing: I am absolutely sure I know more history of Albania than she does (when I was an ultra leftist I used to listen to Radio Tirana...in the early 70s! And I read everything about this rather obscure country I could get my hands on). So now you know why I don't want to mess with Albanians, especially that part about blood fued. (There was an incident in the Bronx in New York City about 20 years ago I read about in the paper where one group of Albanians did a nasty number one a member of another group of Albanians. Now, ordinarily Albanians are like anyone else, but in certain circumstances I think it would be best to leave well enough alone. If I were Hillary Clinton, asceding to their every demand like she plans to, I don't think I'd want to double-cross them later on. I wonder if wannabe "Madame President" knows about their blood fued culture?) |

As for Albania's modern history: After a brief period of freedom and the attmept to bring the country out of complete feudalism, led by students who had attended university abroad, mostly Paris, and school students mostly from the lowlands, Albania was being subverted by an "enlightened" leader, Zogu, who was in fact being financed by Mussolini in order so that Italian corporate interests could take over Albania's resources completely (Italy pretty much controlled Albania's economy anyway). In the mid-1920s, Zogu overthrew the weak central government, installed himself as "king," (King Zog I), and basically handed the country over to Mussolini, who took it outright in 1937, but not before Zog fled to newly fascist Spain with the entire Albanian treasury! Now Mussolini couldn't hold onto Albania just as he couldn't hold on to anything else (and eventually Italy), so when Italian forces began capitualting ot the Allies in 1942, Hitler, backed by Usatashe fascist elements in Albania and Kosovo, took control of Albania as well as Kosovo and Serbia. The Serbs under Tito fought back against the Nazis helped by the Brits and the Russians; a rather smaller group of Albanian anti-fascist partisans led by Hoxha and the Communists fought the Nazis as well. Still the vast majority of Albanians, led by a political party called the Bali Kombatar, united with Ustashe elements against the partisans, primarily in the highlands and Kosovo (lowland Albanians, being better educated and more progressive, sided with Hoxha). After Hoxha won control of Albania, pro-Hitler forces, now trying to ally themselves with western anti-Communists, fled to Kosovo. Much of the animosity between Yugoslavia and Albania in the years when both countries were Communist has a lot to do with the fact that Tito refused to hand over to Hoxha these fascist elements, which, in early 1960 tried to bring down Hoxha's government but were caught. This "coup" leader, Teme Sejko, and others, were executed in the early 60s. Sejko was a high-mucky-muck in Hoxha's government, but he was financially backed by those formerly Ustashe people, backed by the CIA. That failed coup was the end of any kind of "reform" movement in Hoxha's Albania until just before his death when his reform-minded future successors began to acquire power. This group includes Alia, Hoxha's sucessor, Nanos Fatos and others who oversaw the end of Communist power in that still technologically backward country. When Bush I went there in 1991 to absolutely adoring crowds, some of whom literally kissed the ground his limo road on, Bush gave Albania huge amounts of aid and promised to bring Albania into the modern world. But a few years later came the "Adriatic Boat People" crisis where nearly a million Albanians (out of a poulation of about 4 million!) left the port city of Durres on everything from ships to rafts across the Adriatic to Naples and Taranto and mostly lived in refugee camps. Some of these people, hoever, infiltrated the Italian Mafia and became the even more deadly Albanian Mafia, which today controls much of Europe's drug, prostitution, and white slavery trade. The Albanian Mafia, with its blood feud and savage ways, makes (from what I've read about them) the Sicialian Mafia look like choir boys. And what came after this crisis was an even worse crisis, where Albania became literally the first country on earth to be run by a "pyramid MLM scheme"! It was then that the country went completely bankrupt. Read about this is O'Rourke's book. So this brings us up to the late 1990s, when, after more huge infusions of US aid as well as US military base aid and a rock solid alliance between the US and Albania, Albania was now ready to supply aid to the "Kosovo Liberation Army," which BTW has had training by one former CIA operative late of Afghanistan's Mujahadeen. His name? Osama bin Laden! I kid you not! Google "KLA + Osama bin Laden + CIA + Clinton + Bosnia + Kosovo" or any combination of those. Thus, it can be seen that the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), while having been put on the "terrorist" list by Clinton, is in fact an integral part of the "New World Order" and especially its mob-criminal wing. Thaci and other KLA overlords who are about to take over the "government" of "independent" Kosovo are truly just a gang of criminals, but, as General Smedley Butler might have put it so succinctly, "They're our criminals!" |

|
Put that together with the fact that now Albania has now discovered oil in its highlands (that'll bring those fuedalists into the 21st century, that's for sure, whether they want to be or not!), and now we know just why the USA so badly wants Kosovo to be "independent" ("independent" my eye! THEY will grab all they can and leave the Albanian people there, most of whom don't like being ruled by a gang of thugs, with a big mess to clean up and even poorer than they were under Serb rule. And if the KLA committs gencocide against the remaining Serbs, so much the better, THEY will say. Less "surplus population.") |

If you read the MSM you'd think the USA backs independent Kosovo because it hates Serbia. No, the USAdoes not hate Serbia...so then why does it seem the USA so anti-Serb? And why is the Serb government so anti-USA? To the point where it is clear the Serb government not only didn't try to prevent the attack on the US Embassy in Belgrade but actively encouraged the attack? First of all, when Milosevic was still in power and NATO tried to force the Rambouillet Accord on him--an agreement so anti-Serb that Serbia would have ceased to exist if Serbia had signed it--it was Clinton who threatened Serbia's existence if they didn't sign it...and all that nonsense about "humanitarian crisis in Kosovo" (there were no mass graves, period, and those graves that wee found had Serb as well as Albanian bodies in them) was just a pretext for war against Serbia in 1999. So then why is the US so anti-Serb? Because Serbia, with its experience vs. the UN forces in Bosnia, in Croatia, and in Slovenia knew that the UN-US-Nato forces would continue to try to rip Serbia apart so that nothing would be left of Serbia (it is true that during the life cycle of Yugoslavia the Serb "majority" did have the most rights and the most power, so that your average Serb considers that Croatia, Bosnia, and Slovenia were "ripped" from Serbia). Paranoid? Perhaps, but when you think THEY have ripped your country apart, there are worse feelings than paranoia. And the fact is this: Kosovo has always been a part of Serbia...the righteousness of this is another question. But the fact is that Serbia, refusing to cave in to the Rambouillet Accords, is asserting its independence and sovereignty--and this is what pisses off THEM. It isn't that THEY just want to destroy Serbia. It is that THEY want a weaker Serbia, and, further, THEY want a state, Kosovo, that will be completely dependent on THEM and ruled by thugs and criminals who will run their drugs, among other things. (Here is a history lesson: how do you think THEY got to have all that power and money? One was Rothschild setting up the Bank of England in 1694 and printing paper gold-backed notes, letting the monarchy in on the scam. The other was the British East India Company owned by the monarchs, and one of their enterprises was opium running out of China and other places. This led to the Opium Wars of the 1840s, complete European takeover of China (helped also by the US and Japan), and the fabulous enrichment of the House of Windsor. Lyndon La Rouche, who has alot of nutty theories being the closet Trotskyite that he is, has this issue to a tee.) Since Serbia is a thorn in THEIR side, THEY have no problem with a group of terrorists, the KLA, declaring Kosovo "independent." |

But God forbid another deserving ethnic minority wants their independence! Oh, no, says US imperialism, says THEM, says the "new world order." Kosovo is independent because WE allow them to be, but We will not allow you that right, THEY say. However, again, if I could put myself into THEIR shoes--think like THEM--I would be pissed off, because now the genie really is out of the bottle. If the US-Nato can force Serbia (and they will force Serbia) to give up Kosovo...well, the western oligarchs (often called "the Illuminati") aren't the only game in town, and I suspect THEY aren't even the most potent game in town. I can just see Russia--which is wrongly believed to be ready to help Serbia at all costs...they are not going to, okay?...forcing a secession issue within Kosovo itself (letting the Serb northern part of Kosovo seceed). The US and Israel are trying to get set up a Kurdistan (or at least they are pretending to). Well, if this happens, I can just see Russia with perhaps China financially backing all sorts of Chavez-Morales-type left wing movements in South America that will forever tell US imperialism where they can stick it. Or, China gets into Sudan and forces a secession of Darfur...and eastern Chad decides to join them. In your face, France! So, that, if the west forces an independent Chechnya, the east will force an independent Vermont? Texas? Hawaii? Will Russian legal minds come up with some pretext to retake Alaska? "'Oh, that Seward fellow's agreement is illegal', the greatest legal mind in Russia claimed the other day to Izvestia." Do you get my drift? THEY, as THEY always do, eventually wind up screwing THEMSELVES. That's because in THEIR arrogant hubris and THEIR inbred shortsightedness and THEIR insatiable greed, THEY failed to see that the consequences of THEIR actions would lead to the creation of an opposing group of oligarchs which I daresay is getting stronger while the "Illuminati" are getting weaker (because more and more people are making themselves aware of what THEY are doing, and nothing THEY do stays secret anymore). Now don't get me wrong--BOTH GROUPS OF OLIGARCHS ARE SCREWING THE PEOPLE AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO. THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ARE GOING TO HAVE TO FIGHT BOTH GROUPS. What WE, THE PEOPLE, have to do right now is have fun and watch the fireworks and learn from all this. DON'T LOSE HEART! WE THE PEOPLE CAN AND WILL WIN! |

If you want to do your own research, here are some worthwhile links: Kosovo won't be part of Serbia again; this wonderful article by Jeremy Scahill that is all over the internet, The Real Story Behind Kosovo's Independence; Serbia Threatens to Take US to Court (this is an Iranian source so I'm sure they'd love that notion, but there may actually be something to this); Kosovo: Fools Rush In by William S. Lind, who like me believes the western oligarchs keep shooting themselves in the foot; Crisis in Kosovo Just Beginning; the Nebosja Malic Archives on Antiwar.com (Malic is a Bosnian Serb who has worked in the Serb government but now lives in the US); and finally, the Yugoslavia articles on Emperor's Clothes by Jared Israel (what I can't figure out is how this rabid Zionist gets it so correct on the Kosovo issue, yet completely denies any legitimacy of the cause of the Palestinians). |
