Speculation on Gloom and Doom, Part 2: The Power of the Oligarchs is the Fault of All of Us

"Trade liberty for safety or money and you'll end up with neither. Liberty, like a grain of salt, easily dissolves. The power of questioning -- not simply believing -- has no friends. Yet liberty depends on it."--Benjamin Franklin

“The same folks that are bombing innocent people in Iraq were the ones who attacked us in America on September the 11th, and that’s why what happens in Iraq matters to the security here at home.”--George W. Bush

First, the first quote. I guarantee you most...no, ALL...Americans would tell you that they are thankful for their freedoms. Still, ask some Americans what these freedoms are and THEY CAN'T TELL YOU! Most Americans have no idea all of what is in the Bill of Rights! Not only can't they say what the First Amendment, Second Amendment, etc., are, but they can't even say, without listing particular amendments, what in general these rights are! And why should they know? The Bill of Rights, if taught in public schools at all, are upstaged by the fact that Washington, Jefferson, et al. were slaveowners! Now, I have said in a previous post that the Founding Fathers rigged the game against the average, non-property owning and non-wealthy American, but the Bill of Rights--while perhaps they never intended to really allow non-powerful Americans to actually have those rights (do Shay's Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion, as well as the Alien and Sedition Acts, ring any bells?)--is an important document, an inspiring document, even, the first of its kind, that goes along part and parcel with the US Constituion...you know, the document Dubya Bush called a "scrap of paper"!

Not only do Americans not know what their rights are, I am pretty sure most couldn't care less if they even have rights as long as they get to spend money shopping or watch some idiot "reality" show. Sounds like I am condescending? Well, too bloody bad! I have had it with the masses of Americans who would just as soon live in a dictatorship or a police state so long as they could have some overlord tell them how "safe" they are because the dissenting "traitors" have been rounded up into concentration camps. You chickens@#t hard right-ers, Michael Savage lovers and those who hang on every word of Ann Coulter (yeah, you folks who claim blasphemously that you hang on every word of Christ! yet you worship the state!), and you lefties, too, who think Dennis "take away the guns" Kucinich or Hillary "it's for the children" Clinton would make a peachy keen replacement for George "a dictatorship would be ok just so long as I'm the dictator" Bush...you folks are just as bad. All you Republicans who abhored the war in Serbia, but that was only because it was a Democrat war...and all you Democrats who hate the war in Iraq, but only because it's a Republican war...yeah, all of you! You can have your surveillance cameras keeping you "safe", and you can have your dull, boring office jobs that basically suck the life out of you, and you fearful soccer moms as well! I say this right now: you won't make it out here where I live, because you people are TOO DAMNED LAZY and TOO DAMNED IRRESPONISBLE! God help you if Ron Paul becomes President: you'd have to give up your precious corporate and taxpayer-funded welfare entitlements!

Now, onto that part about the power of questioning has no friends. Folks, I have questioned things my whole life. You see, I was born into a family where my mother was Catholic and my dad was Episcopelean (yet was forced to become Roman Catholic and had to promise to bring me and my brother up Catholic). Back in the 50s, this was called a "mixed marriage." They sent me to Catholic school where, because I just thought it stupid to have to follow all the stupid rituals to the letter, ignoring the true message of Christ, I got into trouble constantly! I can't recount how many times the nuns and lay teachers told me I had "committed mortal sins" because I did things like eat breakfast less than 3 hours before taking a Communion wafer or talked out of turn (in Grade 1, I was threated with "the spanking machine"!). And then all those arguments at home about the Pope's "infallibility"! My dad wouldn't go for it, and I agreed with him: Christ, not man, was infallible. The final straw was in Grade 4 when, in writing an original poem, I used a line from a story I overheard in class, and they all said I was "cheating"! Even my so-called friends "blackballed" me! So I got the heck outta that school! The hypocrisy continued through CCD calsses, so, when I was in Grade 10, I stopped going to church, period. I have come to the conclusion that the Catholic Church, but also the Protestant Churches and all the other denominations, because they place themselves ahead of Christ "as the most high" (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28, Revelation 17 and 18) and, symbolically, sit as the most high in the temple of Jerusalem, are in fact the Mystery Babylon, Mother of Harlots of Revelation 17. Further, also in politics I question what "they" say by looking at what "they" do. Hillary Clinton (as well as Barak Obama) says she wants to help the American middle class on the one hand, so what does she do? As seen on the Lou Dobbs show on CNN on July 23, 2007, she says that those of us who don't want millions of illegal aliens flooding the US are "racist"! Yet, she supports the uber racist "Aztlan/Mechista" movement ("for la raza all, for the rest nothing")! On the other side of the aisle, you have Republicans like Mitt Romney saying out of one side of their mouth they support abortion, then on the other side of their mouth saying they are against it! Must be a Massachusettes thing, a la Kerry: "I was for it before I was against it"!

Folks, at what point are you going to STOP BELIEVING THESE LIARS? When you are rounded up and sent to a concentration camp, courtesy of Halliburton? Is THAT what it is going to take to get you masses of Americans to WAKE UP?

Now, to the second quote. As far as I'm concerned (and despite what Bush actually intended to mean), this quote is an ADMISSION OF GUILT by Bush that he is responsible for the terrorist attack on Septemeber 11, 2001. That is because it is the US MILITARY WHICH IS COMMANDED BY GEORGE W. BUSH WHO IS BOMBING INNOCENT PEOPLE IN IRAQ! This quote isn't the first Freudian Slip made by Bush, either. Others are the following: (courtesy of DubyaSpeak.com

  • "Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
  • "This notion that the United States is getting ready to attack Iran is simply ridiculous. And having said that, all options are on the table."
  • "There -- it's -- you know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."
  • "Border relations between Canada and Mexico have never been better."
  • "Yo Blair!" (Okay, I didn't find that one on the site, and it's not a Freudian Slip.)

So, is the dark scenario I keep harping on going to happen? Will city folk be "rounded up"?

Based on previous incidents, the answer is "yes" and "no". That is, some will be rounded up, and some won't. Similar scenarios portrayed in dystopia movies, from "1984" and "The Matrix Series" to "The Robocop Series" and "Brazil" (which I consider the greatest dystopia movie ever made) only get it half right. Did Hitler "round up" millions upon millions of non-Jewish, non-Communist Germans, and send them off to concentration camps? Hardly. Did Stalin round up millions and millions of ordinary Russians who just went about their day-to-day business? No, he rounded up mostly enemies of the Party, dissidents, and high-up Party members who this psychopathically paranoid individual felt threatened his power. The only rounding up of ordinary citizens was into collective farms, and the only people who generally rebelled were in the Ukraine. The same can be said of Mao's China, and other totalitarian states. So, if Bushco started "rounding people up," would it resemble what has been done before, or the darkest scenarios of the conspiracy theorists? The proof of the former being likely can be seen in what happened in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Those who could escape the oncoming deluge in their private vehicles did so. Most of these were folks who had the financial means to spend several days in hotels or had relatives willing to take them in elsewhere, as well as having the vehicles. Those left behind tended to be mostly blacks living in housing projects or that did not have the financial means to get out otherwise. They had the option of either somehow staying in their houses (some did, and, those who did it seems stayed behind because of their pets. This situation brought about another interesting problem later when Hurricane Rita threatened the Galveston-Houston-Beaumont areas, in which pets were allowed to be taken so that anyone who wanted to evacuate could. What happened was that Rita did not hit this part of Texas but veered onto Southwest Louisiana which was not evacuated to the extent it should have been, and, further, most of the animals trapped were cattle who died, not because of the onrushing waters, but because the salt in those waters killed the vegetation they ate! In the meantime, millions were stranded on highways for 8 hours or more in the same place; since they couldn't keep their motors running, they sat in unairconditioned cars in trememdous heat, which, if nothing else, probably hurt more pets than would have been hurt otherwise!). In other words, the folks left behind tended to be poor people. And it is the poor people, regardless of race, who will be the ones most likely to be "rounded up," as what happened during the Katrina evacuation. I will say though that they were not necessarily rounded up forcibly. Yet, they were "rounded up," and forced to spend their days immediately after the hurricane in a facility, the Superdome, that was clearly inadequate, mostly because the facilities one would expect to use were not working properly due to the cutting off of water and electricy. Thus, poor people, as usual, will fare the worst in a "worst-case scenario" and thus, blacks and other minorities can be expected to fare the worst, and likely will be the ones "rounded up" first. Again, not because they are black, but because they are poor. Further, it is necessary to point out that Mayor Ray Nagin had New Orleans under martial law at the time. Since New Orleans was under martial law, the troops available, including cops and hired mercenaries from Blackwater (and, in this case, Blackwater did an invaluable job helping out), did mandate that people leave their homes, but most wanted to anyway. (It is ironic that many of the housing projects in the lower 9th Ward survived quite nicely and are now being destroyed for the typical elitists purpose of gentrifying New Orleans and preventing poor blacks from returning. That is a shame on the history of New Orleans, the first and only city for free blacks before the Civil War, and a refuge for freed blacks afterward.)

I daresay that should a second 9-11 occur, martial law probably won't be as "benevolent," and people really will be forcibly rounded up. The movie, "The Siege" comes to mind. In this movie, where Denzell Washington plays the head of an FBI anti-terrorist team, Tony Shaloub plays the Arab-American interpreter, and Bruce Willis plays the crazed commander of a Brooklyn under martial law, Willis orders the rounded up of many thousand Arab-American males of "likely terrorist" age, including the son of Shaloub's character. Some of these rounded up are tortured. However, the one guy who is the "final" "al qeada" like terrorist cell is running around free because the female CIA clandestine office "trusts" him because he is some "innocent" college professor, who just os happened allowed the other terrorists into the country on college student visas. But it doesn't matter if you haven't seen the movie. Most likely the first people who would be rounded up should a terrorist attack occur would be, first, all Arab-Americans (some of whom are Christian...these of course would later be released), and then all Muslims, regardless of ethnicity. I will also daresay that this scenario would probably resemble the internment of Japanese American during World War II. Later, depending on how far soft-core fascism turned into hard-core fascism, other populations would be rounded up as well. Among them will be anyone who has ever been a dissident, an anti-war activist, or anyone else Bushco doesn't like.

Unless, of course, you have already headed for the hills, especially the mountains. The power elite/oligarch complex has already proven itself incompetent--with all their high-tech surveillance equipment!--in finding "terrorists" in the mountainous regions along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. In WW2, Nazi German troops were unable to stamp out various resistance movements in the Balkans because these groups hid in the mountains. In our own American Revolution, the Brits never did get the upper hand over Ethan Allen's "Green Mountain Boys" (despite the fact that the Green Mountains of Vermont are not the high). And, amazingly, it is a truth that when Albania, a mountainous country in the north and east, was ruled by the long lived iron dictatorship of Enver Hoxha, the Communist "Party of Labor" never had much affect on the mountainous areas, where traditional religious practices and relative freedom still reigned--the home of "blood fued" and the "Code of Lek" still lived pretty much the way it has for hndreds of years. And even though China was able to conquer mountainous Tibet, the most mountainous parts of that area are still relatively free compared to the "low-land" areas of Tibet. Even though we live in a day and age of all sorts of surveillance devices such as "the Aerostat balloon" that we have out here in far west Texas (supposedly to help catch illegal aliens) or spy satellites and GPS, it will be a while before "the police state" is able to do a whole lot about us out here in the mountains. They will be too busy pacifying the cities and suburbs, rounding updissidents, etc. to worry about trying to handle a terrain they are unfamiliar with. Besides, mountains tend to have caves and other places to hide. Then, it is just a matter of waiting for the "police state" to implode, mostly due to lack of funds and lack of will on the part of most of the power elites. It won't be because of any "insurgency". Only 10% of the population fought in the Continental Army or was actively on its side. Between 25 and 30% were loyalists who actively helped the Brits. The rest, 60%, sat on the fence throughout the whole show. That, I again daresay, will be about what I would expect to happen in "American Revolution II." I may be wrong, but I truly believe that the most clandestine thing freedom-loving Americans can do at this point is to get to the mouuntains in true freedom and true safety, and let the two sides knock each other off. And let the sheeple that allow THEM to control every aspect of their lives in the cities and suburbs, those who favor security over liberty, to make their bed and lie in it.
