Change Only What You Can, and Don't Worry about the Rest

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference"

I won't say where I saw this, but on a webiste I visited the other day I saw something that seemed to imply that an actual armed revolution in the US was being called for if a certain outcome was not forthcoming. In fact, I could not believe what I was seeing, and figured the FBI or NSA had planted this. I suspect, however, that there are quite a few people who would fall for this because they are so angry with Bushco, Clintonco, Neoconco and the rest or the corporate-security-imperialist-complex. I will repeat again that any form of ARMED STRUGGLE by any so-called insurgency is STUPID, because it will be infiltrated, and against what THEY have militarily is folly. Just because insurgents can win in Iraq doesn't mean insurgents here can win. You do know, don't you, that the US military is backing both sides. You do know, don't you, that the House is going to pass another bill against what could be called "domestic terrorists"...you know, the idiots calling for armed struggle!

Besides which, is it or will it even be necessary? Like I've said, I read articles, then I read the comments under them, with a wide variety of political or other opinions (problem is, most of the comments lack much common sense, are filled with bile and appear to be written by people who have clearly let themselves be brainwashed). However, it does appear that we still have free speech here in the good ol' US of A. And, until the nonsense really does hit the fan, we still have the right to bear arms. (Note: for those of you who think Bush is the worst we can do, consider that Bush has done almost nothing so far to take away our guns. Will you Hillary lovers be able to say the same thing? Can you Barak "let's bomb Pakistan" Obama lovers say the same thing, and you too, Kucinich fans? After all, HIllary's excuse always rotates around "saving the children"! She must think all us 349,000,000 non-power elites are her "children"!) So, yes, Bush has been bad, but I daresay we actually can do worse. (And one more thing about replacing Bush with a Democrat: Bush has not reinstituted the draft. Will the Democrats be able to say the same thing?) So, while I advocate preparation for whatever will hit the fan, I also think some folks need to calm down! I mean you, too, Alex Jones and the rest of the fearmongers who claim the "police state" is upon us! Mr. Jones, as much of a dissenter as you are, the day your freedom to post whatever fear pitches you make is gone, then you can actually claim you live in a police state. I saw your "Police State 9-11" film: good film, but I didn't see anyone taking your cameras away. So, you stillhave freedom of speech. Please use it responsibly!

Still, the oligarchs will have to be dealt with sooner or later. The time will come when people will be rounded up for whatever reason. It is at this time that people finally will get it. At this time people will want to resist or defend freedom (though they won't have it and will hav to rely on others.). That is, when Americans really do lose their freedom and KNOW THEY HAVE LOST IT is when those who are prepared can start the ball rolling. The thing is, however, that until the time comes when defeating the oligarchs will be possible, the WISEST course for those who want it defeated is to change only what can be changed and not worry about what cannot be changed. You cannot send a million or so protestors to Washington and expect Bushco or their successors to get the troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan, because it ain't happening anytime soon. You cannot boycott every single corporate multinational jobs outsourcer (but boycotting a few might make you feel better.) You can try to not buy anything made in China. You can stop shopping at Wal-Mart. You cannot stop the world's "carbon footprint," end poverty, free all the world's slaves, serfs, and indentured servants, plant a billion new trees, close all the factory farms yourself, liberate all the animals who are being used in experiments, stop the huge whaling factory ships or stop the huge shrimp fishing fleets from dredgeing the seas of shrimp, and also hundreds of other species that are thrown away dead. You cannot convince every single Christian the rapture isn't happening, period, nor convince him that God will indeed save all mankind, nor convince him that the present-day Zionist State of Israel is NOT God's Israel! You cannot convince radical Muslims that jihad is not worth killing innocents when they have been victims of the West for hundreds of years, and you cannot convince people who come out of a world revolutionary tradition--that is, the neocons, who are heirs to Leon Trotsky--that "creative destruction" will only lead to their own as well as millions of others they care nothing about, as Trotsky didn't when his Red Army murdered the Czar and his family in cold blood. You cannot send the rain onto drought-stricken Niger and you cannot keep the rains from flood-stricken East Texas. You cannot have, at this time, "peace on Earth and goodwill toward men." You cannot save every starving child in Africa just as you cannot convince the rich spoiled brat daughters of the West to stop engaging in their anorexia and bulimia. You cannot force lazy people to work just as you cannot force workaholics to take a break. I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea: there are some things--most things, in fact--that you cannot change by yourself, so you should stop trying, by yourself. So what I say is, to defeat the oligarchs in your life, you must make changes that you can make. You can right now begin getting out of debt and resolve never to get into debt again. You can resolve to eat only healthy foods. You can resolve to stop believing whatever you hear on TV news, talk shows, and entertainment programming. "Reality" shows are anything but.

Yet, you must also change in spirit. You yourself can stop hating people because they disagree with you, because of their race or religion or ethnicity or class. That's right! Stop hating the upper classes (I know you do, okay, because I used to hate them as well, and I know how you feel). Stop hating the oligarchs, because that won't make them better people. Stop hating Bush, and, yes, stop hating Cheney! Stop hating Hillary, stop hating Kissinger, stop hating Soros, the UN bureaucrats, the "new woreld order" crowd, the "Illuminati" and the rest. You hate because you envy, and you envy because you wannabe them and know you can't be them. Don't bother trying to destroy them because they are doing quite a nice job on destroying themselves already. So you can either not worry about them, basically ignore them, and go about your business. You can stop being lazy and prepare for the worst as you hope for the best. You can stop spending money you don't have for things you don't need. Furtherm you can turn off the boob-tube where you learn that you "think" you need something that you don't, and grow up. You can love your children, and not only that, you can educate them as well. NO excuses (unless you are feeble minded)! Would you believe their are families with both working parents who are having their children homeschooled? If your financial situation allows it, one parent can stay home and educate the kiddos, and it doesn't have to be the female either (it should be the one with the lower income). If you hate your job, you can discover that you can take a lower paying job that you like. You can live simpler. You can work online and telecommute which means you can live away from the cities and suburbs. You can move to the hinterlands and still live well. You can take more control over your life.

You can STOP LIVING IN FEAR!

Now all you have to do is determine what can be changd and what can't...the wisdom to know the difference.
