"But, I Can't Move to the Country Right Now!" So Here's a Few Things You Can Do In The Meantime. Plus: Can THEY Get Any Dumber Than This? Double Plus: Nadia vs. Nastia, and Announcements

I realize that not everyone who subscribes to Something Happening Here or reads these newsletters can get "out of the system" to the extent that I have or would want to (that is, completely). I realize that having to work in or near the big city is a must for some. I realize that some have elderly patents or disabled children or loved ones in Iraq or they are "unequally yoked" (as the Apostle Paul put it) to a spouse who loves Bush or the system or who works at a munitions plant or for the Feds. Some even might be almost completely dependent on government largesse...though I am opposed to government welfare, food stamps, Medicaid and the like, I DO UNDERSTAND!

When I had to go to the hospital after vomiting blood due to one of my more serious migraines a few years ago, in an overnight stay and MRI and scope showing a weakened duodenum (the uppermost part of the small intestine attached to the stomach), my bill was nearly $8,000! I am uninsured. However, all but $900 of it was "forgiven" by the State of Texas Temporary Medicaid program for lower income Texans, and in fact we never even had to pay that amount. We did, of course, pay our doctor his fee of $700 or so. Because of that, my doctor--like so many male doctors has been disposed to believe that I was "overreacting" to my menstrual migraines that I've had since my teens but has only gotten progressively worse as I got older--FINALLY prescribed for my a "triptan"--the ONLY effective pain medication for migraines--so that I wouldn't ever get so sick from a migraine again. Now I have thrown up because of migraines since starting that medication! But this is not still something that happens very often now. And I must add to this that my migraines have actually lessened considerably since beginning a new dietary regimine: it turns out that my husband's uncle (see my Katrina-reunion article) owns a health food store that I visited during the family reunion. He also practices "Iridology", a study of the iris of the eye. Through Iridology he discovered that my "constitution" was good (and when he did it I was having a low grade migraine!), but that I was not digesting meat properly. (He said this is a preponderant problem in those with Type-A blood...those readers that have Type A blood might want to verify this with a homeopathic doctor, or check out how well they digest meat. WARNING: I AM NOT GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE HERE!). He then gave me a bottle of "organic raw apple cider vinegar" and told me to take two teaspoons in 8 ounces of water before I eat meat (and it is okay after eating meat as well, IMHO). Ever since I started doing this, I HAVE HAD FEWER MIGRAINES and the ones I have seem to be less intense.

Folks, I DO UNDERSTAND if you cannot make all of your preparations to move to the country right now. I've gotten feedback form subscribers about it. We did what we have done over 25 years ago! It is VERY HARD, feeling or knowing or suspecting that the "world as we know it" is about to change radically, to suddenly try to do something about it, getting as far from the epicenter of it as possible. In fact the best preparation plan should have been begun years ago... However, there are things one can do to try to get "outside the box" right now that can mitigate actually getting outside the box later. Now, there is a spiritual component to this, but I am going to hold off on that until next time or the time after that. Atheists who read this newsletter WILL be put off by what I have to say, but too bad! I WILL NOT SUCCUMB TO FEAR that so many Christians succumb to when they feel that atheists, who believe they are the only ones with a brain because "they" are not beholden to "religion" and other "superstitions" and are thus the only "rational" beings in the universe, consider every last Christian as an "idiot" for believing in the "myth" of Jesus Christ. Subscribers (and I thank God my subscriber list is growing every week) who can't cope with that message can either get over it or ignore the newsletters or unsubscribe. But I don't know what anyone would have to be afraid of...for one thing, I won't be condemning anyone to "hell for eternity" if they don't "get right with God"... Besides, if atheists, who think they are the only "tolerant" people around, can't deal with a person of faith, then when they think of "intolerance" they need to look in the mirror. Just a note on what is coming in the near future, that's all...

So, here are a few things you can do right now:

  • One, save every bit of change in your pockets every day and put the coins in a jar or can or container. Do not spend your change; in fact, make change every time you have single dollar bills in your pocket or wallet, spend what you must and then when you get home put the rest into the can. Further, if you have the following, put these coins in a special place because of their metal content: all pennies 1981 and earlier (high copper content); all "Kennedy" half dollars 1964 and 1965-1969 (high silver content, 64s are the highest); all "buffalo" nickels (silver) and all "mercury" dimes (silver); and all quarters before 1965 (higher silver content). You might want to put "Susan B. Anthony" dollars away, mostly because they are almost indistinguishable from quarters. Pennies 1982 and later are almost all (a few 1982s are exceptions) copper plated zinc. The latest ones have very little copper in them.

  • Two, learn a foreign language. For one thing, studies show that learning a foreign language increases brain power and stimulates areas of the brain that aren't normally stimulated. Using a foreign language is even more stimulating. It is, naturally, best if you can learn it in the setting for which it is used...the foreign country that speaks it. Really there is no substitute for learning Spanish in Mexico or Spain or Chile, but using a good program, one the "State Department" or other uses, is better than not learning a language at all. Probably a combination of programs is best. We are now using "Rosetta Stone" (registered trademark), as well as our daughter's home school curriculum, and other sources, for learning Spanish and/or--are you ready for this?--Japanese! For another thing, knowing a foreign language fluently does a major leap to your future job opportunities in this "globalized" world. What if you need a foreign language to get promoted in your company? What if you can't get a promotion, all other things being equal, unless you know a certain foreign language (that happened to me so I know what I'm talking about!)? What if you can't take it anymore living under the shadows of "Mordor" and must leave the country? What if you have to know a certain foreign language to live where you want to go? (not everyone can move to New Zealand!) Finally, learning a foreign language even if you don't think you'll ever use it is a great way to use spare time that would otherwise be spent ozzing out in front of the idiot tube. And, oh yeah! Thanks to the Internet, people who are fluent in more than one language are finding online job opportunities for translators that haven't been opened to them before. And if you are fluent in an obscure language that hardly anyone else uses, you might find a job opening in the United Nations or one of many NGOs that need translators in "rare" languages such as Albanian, Tibetan, Saami (Laplanders), Urdu (Pakistan/Afghanistan), Navajo (the language used to encrypt messages from the Japanese during WW2), Gallic/Gealic/Welsh/Basque, and other "obscure" languages...for 6 figures a year!

  • Three, keep a daily journal or diary or write down your "stream of consciousness" writing where you can release your angst or joy and relieve stress otherwise. If there is any hatred in your heart for a particular person that you can make amends with personally, do that, but what if the person you hate is not someone you know personally? What if it is President Bush, for instance? It is not likely you will be able to reconcile with him personally because for one thing the Secret Service won't let you anywhere near him. Or what if it is a thing or place or event that you hate? It is a well known fact that hatred causes stress and poor health in your life. Why not release the hate into a journal and make yourself healthier and happier?

  • Four, stop listening to the fear-and hate-mongers on talk radio, right-and left-wing, and listen to music instead (I wish my own husband would take this to heart, as it does neither him nor me any good when he comes home from work regaling me with the "latest pronouncements" of Sean Hannity or Michael "kill 9-11 truthers" Reagan on FOX News radio or XM's "America Right"). He has no plans to vote for McBush (he has no plans to vote, period), so why does he think telling me what Rush Limbaugh has said about Obama is going to make me any more informed than I already am? You choose the music.

  • Five, either throw away the television, or make a conscious effort to severely limit your watching time and stick to it. Right now I only watch reruns of "X Files" on Sci-Fi and perhaps a movie at night (from 7 to 9 pm, more often than not a pre-recorded DVD or tape, except when DirecTV has their "free movie weekends"). I don't think I have to mention that watching TV makes one less informed, less discerning, and more consumerist, lethargic and apathetic. Folks, we Americans can no longer afford consumerism and apathy! (Note: I have watched some of the Olympics, and I'll comment on that in a bit)

  • Six, learn one of more "low tech" skills that you think might benefit you when you finally do make your move to the country: small engine repair; maintenance carpentry/plumbing/electrical work; car maintenance; how to chop wood; how to prepare a garden; how to keep bees or livestock; how to change tires (especially if you are a woman! All women should know how to change a tire and do it! Being dependent on a man won't cut it in the country! In fact, all women should know what they must do in order to get their vehicles started in bad weather conditions. I've learned this the hard way...when I was 7 months pregnant!) and even if you never make it to the country, everyone ought to be able to replace old computer parts and install new parts themselves, as well as install new software or reinstall old software on new hard drives, with confidence!

  • Seven, the spiritual component that I will get to soon.

  • Eight, read "Political Ponerology" about how and why psychopaths have taken control of the world (I just ordered mine from amazon.com), so that you can understand what we, the remnant, are up against. If you are spiritually inclined to do so, study the Bible: get the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible if the King James archaic language is too confusing. I think the NIV is too modern and has lost some of the "soul" that other older versions have, and, if you want a more exact translation from the ancient Greek, get the "Concordant Literal New Testament" from Concordant Publishing Company. The Concordant Literal is key to understanding that what was written 2,000 years ago was also written for today--it uses the imperfect (aorist in Greek) tense, meaning the action is ongoing.

  • Ninth, learn to play a musical instrument, which can be very relaxing, with which you can entertain yourself.

Can THEY Get Any Dumber Than This?

Bush, Rice and Company can rant all they want about what Putin is doing in Georgia, can send missles to Poland (because, I hate ot say it, the Poles always do what they are told and usually get screwed royally) which sets up Poland for a Russian retaliation of some kind they can ill afford, can set up Europe to take the fall as Bush plays his "Great Game" gig (because Europe needs Russian energy products), and set up Georgia to fall to Putin...of course, Saakashvili either believed the US would help him or was set up to believe that... They can rant all they want, because, on top of telling the Iraqi Shiites to rebel against Saddam because we would support them...and telling Tibet to rise up because we would support them...and telling Chechnya to rise up because we would support them...and I'm sure there are others who fell for US promises of help that were never delivered, they told Georgia that the US would help them, and in fact left them in the lurch. So, I ask you: can any nation trying to free themselves from threats by other great powers believe the United States when we say we will help them? Can ANYONE believe ANYTHING the US says it will do anymore? Heck, even Israel, which I sometimes claim runs US foreign policy, has been somewhat left in the lurch! When we saw Israel losing to Hezbolla in 2006 in Lebanon, we did not go in there and pull their chessnuts out of the fire. So, is the US credible anymore? Now, I ask you, if the US has lost that much credibility, and the "Illuminati" has raised up this country to be the world's policeman just how smart is it for THEM to let this happen to THEIR enforcer? I can hear it now: "that's because," someone might say, "THEY intend to let us fall, military and all, when THEY finally put THEIR one-world-government in place." Well, I hate to pull a "duh!" but just how are THEY gonna put THEIR one-world-government in place WITHOUT the US military to enforce it? Without the "world's strongest military" (it doesn't have to be the US, but right now and for the foreseeable future the US military will continue to be the world's strongest), THEY will be unable to enforce a one-world-government, as simple as that. Blackwater, you say? Well, when Blackwater becomes as strong as the US military, I'll be dead, so I'm not gonna worry about that issue! In fact, the world is becoming more "multi-polar" so I just don't see a "one-world-government" happening any time very soon.

And just how smart are THEY, putting up McBush for President when the original Bush has put unintended consequences upon THEM to the point where almost nothing THEY do is a secret anymore? And just how smart are THEY, making Bush III's opponent even a worse flip-flopper who used to support the Palestinians but now sucks Israel's you-know-what, who used to be able to paint himself as "anti-war" but now only totally deluded types believe that lie anymore, and who used to stand for "change" but now the only "change" you will get is going to be sucked out of your pockets! In fact, now that McCain is leading in the polls for the first time ever, I say it would be poetic justice if Obama lost in November...or the Dems (notice how many Obama super-delegates and now finding themselves on a slab in a morgue!) choose one of the biggest criminals in world history, Hillary, to lead them instead. On the other hand it would be poetic justice if McCain won in November, for the same reason Joseph "Arab Zionist" Farah of WorldNetDaily does NOT want McCain to win: because a McCain presidency will probably destroy the Republican Party for good. It's a fact that many Republicans can't stand McCain. But on the other hand an Obama Presidency will probably destroy the Democrats, so either one will be bad for their stupid parties. But, whoever wins, McCain or Obama will be blamed for the ruined US economy and more war. Couldn't happen to more deserving people!

Must be the inbreeding I keep harping on. Seriously, if I was in the "Illuminati," I'd be pissed big time, having to put up with such idiot incompetants when all I want to do is rule the world. Now, did Lord Jacob Rothschild or Mayer or one of those originals who founded fiat currency with the Bank of England in 1694 ever imagine that his progeny, three hundred or so years later, could screw up so badly? Some "Illuminati"! THEY, with THEIR panopticon crystal magic eight ball, couldn't see this coming? THEY are thus about as "illuminated" as one of those dark prison cells at Gitmo...and, who knows? THEY might find THEIR fat cat behinds in one, one of these days! But you know what would really piss me off if I was one of THEM? The fact that some of my associates have become so damned greedy that what they have done cannot possibly stay hidden from the light of day. If Christopher Story is right and THEY ripped off the Queen of England (who is, of course, one of THEM), and if the same Story is right and THEY ripped off Vlad Putin (see the most recent www.worldreports.org articles), and if the same THEY are ripping off China, Japan, India, Europe and everyone else out of their lust for fiat money, which I would have to say is becoming more worthless every day... and THEY probably won't even have time to enjoy it because Bush/Cheney/Clintons are constantly having to watch their backs. Oh, and about that million acre or so ranch in Paraguay...you Bushs DO KNOW THAT PARAGUAY JUST ELECTED a former priest to be their President, and any wealth you all bring down there just might be confiscated for the people? Dummies! Did you still think Paraguay was under the rule of your oligarch buddies? See, folks, that's what happens when your inbred son goes to Yale and parties all the time instead of learning a little history! No wonder W kept looking like he was drunk at the Olympics!

And speaking of the Olympics... It doesn't matter to me which athlete or which country wins what medal, as long as the best athlete wins. Most assuredly, Michael Phelps was the best swimmer there. But for those puddinghead announcers to claim that he was "the greatest Olympic athlete of all time" is ridiculous! The greatest Olympic athlete so far in history, yes. But of all time? Who know what will happen in 2012? What if Usain Bolt of Jamaica wins a couple more Golds in Beijing, then wins more in London in 2012, more than 9 Golds? Will he then be the "greatest Olympic athlete of all time"? Besides, is Phelps even the best swimmer? When he can swim the English Channel or some similar distance, then yes, he just might be the greatest swimmer in history. Until then, the jury is out. And besides, is all that "godhood" status the idiots are laying on Phelps good for Phelps? A.E. Housman's great poem, "An Athlete Dying Young" comes to mind..."and the glory died before the man..." Leave the kid alone, so he can get on with his life, for pity sake! But that is nothing perfidious compared to what they are saying about Nastia Liukin. It is the height of folly for Costas and company to compare her to the awesome, "six times perfect ten" Nadia Comaneci of Romania! Comaneci redefined gymnastics, showed the world what perfection on the horse, balance beam, uneven bars and floor exercise meant, and brought joy to a country, Romania, under one of East Europes most brutal dictators, Nicolai Coucescu. Further, it is an insult to Comaneci's--and Shawn Johnson's, BTW--coach, Bela Karolyi, the man who made Comaneci what she became and thus helped to redefine gymnastics and atheleteic perfection. Nastia is outstanding, but she is NO NADIA!

Announcements: It has come to my attention that some new subscriber emails are getting stuck in my spam box and are being deleted without my knowledge (because I rarely check my spam box!). The most recent new subscriber has been salvaged, but I don't know how many others have been lost. Therefore, knowing that I have to check my spam/junk email box at least once every two weeks (Hotmail deletes spam every 14 days), if you still do not get the newsletter URL roughly every week, send another email or just check back every week at the home page. I will try to make sure I check the spam box every week or when I send out the newsletter posting. Further, I will try to get a feedback page up in September using some sort of Javascript (which I used to know but haven't used it in years...I use raw html, not a style sheet like just about everyone else does, so it's gonna take some time).

Don't forget, if you have a comment on this or other posts, e-mail me with your comment, and put the name of the article in the subject line.

Like what you read? Then subscribe to the Something Happening Here Newsletter! I do not have a set time for it to come out, but I try to make a newsletter once a week or as much as possible with hints and tips on how to live better and more naturally on your rural remote land. From handling garden insects to collecting valuable resources like water and firewood to raising your children to dealing with neighbors, I believe my 25 years experience living on the land can help you make the most of your rural remote life.
