Out-Rising, Part 2

Folks, I want to apologize. I may not have to apologize and there is probably nothing to apologize for, but I'm going to do it anyway. I apologize for not posting newsletters on what I had originally intended to post newsletters on, almost exclusively. I had intended to almost exclusively post letters on how my husband and I have dealt with life's little problems in living in the rural remote (mountains) of far West Texas, gardening, dealing with the few neighbors we have, dealing with running errands into town about 25 or 50 miles away, and promoting the idea of moving out of the cities and suburbs for what I SUSPECTED might be coming a few years down the road, and also to support an independent-from-"the system", self-sufficient-oriented group of individuals and families I call "the remnant." I don't mean this in a Bible sense. This "remnant" can consist of Christians and anyone else, the religion doesn't matter but the desire to survive in peace and happiness does (and by independent I don't mean from God). Well, the first few newsletters posted DID fulfill that intention. I applied for this domain in June, 2007, put up the site in July, 2007. But then the "housing bubble" burst, Ron Paul started getting a head of steam in the Republican candidates "horse race," Cramer started imploding, Wantagate came on my radar screen and with it, the most comprehensive account of why we are in this mess and the criminal pathocracy running it, the economy continued to head south... so that events sort of got the best of me. Although I would love to keep on just writing about what we have been doing, making suggestions, and providing encouragement to make the move, reality has intruded into this happy little place and web space. Besides, some readers have told me they simply cannot make the move. Far be it for me, no expert, to tell others what to do, even if I think my husband and I have done the right things for over 25 years.

Back in August or September of last year, when I suspected that fairly soon crisis might hit, I started "pontificating" (my husband's word) on "getting out of the system." Ideally, this would mean completely getting off the grid, stop participating in any way, shape, or form in our "civic" duty or our "representative democracy" (which is still a good idea, but as someone who has voted in the last two general elections [the first for Bush--STUPID!--and the second for Jesus Christ, the ultimate protest vote!], who am I to say "don't vote"?), grow most if not all your own food and livestock, including beekeeping, and basically DIY and be totally self-sufficient from "the system". But that is not practical for most of "the remnant" even. For years my husband and I, homeschooling our two children, refused to get them Social Security Numbers. But then it happened: driver's licenses, college admissions, Girl Scout Camp. Well, we did it as long as we could. But, just as both of us had been vegetarians until we had our son and, not wanting to limit his food choices, began to eat meat again, we did not want to limit their life choices to the fringes of the system either: our son wants to work with fish. Period. Who are we to force him NOT to go to college and get credentialed to manage fisheries, just because we don't want him to be forced to get an SSN? Same with our daughter. So, when I say "get out of the system," only a very very few can do that completely. That is why I have said, "Get out of the system as much as you can." So "getting out of the system" must mean more than just living off the grid, not voting, homeschooling, growing food, being self-sufficient, and learning low-tech skills for maintenance, and buying lots of guns and ammo (and depend on God).

Since "getting out of the system" will mean different things to different people, it is pretty much dependent on what different people think "being in the system" is! Is it the "Rat Race"? Is it "Being in Debt?" Is it "Being Enslaved to Material Possessions or Sports or other Obsession"? Is it "Being Brainwashed by the Media Industrial Complex"? Do you hate any person or group? Do you hate for religious reasons, skin color reasons, money reasons, political reasons, personal lifestyle reasons? Do you hate "foreigners" or Jews or Arabs or "people who look Middle Eastern"? When you see someone who looks Asian, do you see another human being or a "chink" or "gook" or "jap"? Are you in any way racist? Really, are you? I personally will not vote for Obama. He's a tool who would probably be no better as president than McCain. But if I had to vote, someone putting a gun to my head so that I had to vote for either Obama or McCain, I would vote for Obama! Could you make the same decision? Are you so turned off by his skin color that you would vote for a man who might blow up the planet, or die, then have someone who wants to force you to become Christian, who cares not a wit about the welfare of animals--I mean, hunting moose form a helicopter? Really courageous, that woman!--meaning she cares not a wit about her fellow humans, and does nothing to quell that hatred of her seemingly Brownshirt followers (as I will show in the below videos)... Would you, if someone put a gun to your head forcing you to vote for either McCain-Palin or Obama-Biden, vote for McCain-Palin, because you could "never vote for a black man"?

Or, conversely--less likely, but conversely--if someone put a gun to your head and forced you to vote for Obama-Biden or McCain-Palin, would you vote for Obama-Biden JUST because he is black? Or, would you choose, if a gun is at your head, to vote for Obama-Biden, just because you couldn't stand to vote for a woman? What I am saying is this: if you do vote, for either Jackass or Dumbass or a third party, are you going to vote based on your head or your emotions? Why does this matter? Because when times "get hard" economically with the possibility of bank failures, foreclosures going ballistic, and fear and panic rule the day, there is a tendency THROUGHOUT HISTORY for even the most civilized peoples (think post-WW1 Germany, the classic example) to succumb to mass hysteria led by some charismatic leader, who, because of the hate stirred up, manages to lead those people down a black hole dug on the back of some scapegoat group--Jews then, Arabs/Muslims (or Jews again) or blacks now?

Whether or not you live "out here" in the rural remote or find yourself stuck in the city or suburbs, it isn't merely about "getting off the grid" or "being a survivalist hunkered down with 5 years of MREs." Getting out of the cities and suburbs is only a suggestion, because when panic hits and fear is rampant, it will hit the cities and suburbs harder (regardless of whether panic and fear are justified), and when that happens it will be harder to get out The first thing in order to get out of the system is to MAKE A CONSCIOUS EFFORT TO GET RID OF WHOEVER IT IS YOU HATE. Learn to stop hating. And learn to stop listening to those who promote it. TV promotes it, but even moreso, talk radio is massively guilty of it, on the left and especially on the right. Hate liberals? Hate conservatives? Then get over it, because THEY want us divided! In fact that is a paramount thing to do if you are to "fight" the "system." If there is no one or no group that you hate, and you do in fact wish no harm on your fellow man except if he harms you and yours, then you are ready to get out of the system. Out-rise! In my next post (hopefully this coming week but maybe the week after), I will discuss spiritual issues as I said I would a few weeks ago.

Before I close this newsletter I will present some videos. The first couple are videos of various McCain-Palin rallies. Originally, McCain did nothing to stop that violent rhetoric at one of his rallies; niether did Palin do anything to stop this at one of her rallies...but then, most recently, due to this strategy of fostering hate backfiring (supposedly they were worried about Obama's poll numbers ahead in double digits now), McCain asks his followers to "cool it." One can assume that it really is some of McCain-Palin followers making these threats against Obama; however, what if Obama's supporters are infilltrating these rallies and stirring things up in the McCain supporters? You know, agent provocateurs? The other videos include one made by the grandfather of Keifer Sutherland on voting (in Canada, but it equally applies everywhere else in the West), and REMs video for the now prescient song, "Its the End of the World As We Know It" (and I feel fine!)

  • Heard at McCain rally a few weeks ago while he fanned the flames of Obama hatred: "Kill" Obama

  • Obama "is a one-man terrorist cell," heard at Ohio rally

  • McCain is now trying to undo the damage he did fanning hatred of Obama because this hatred is killing him in the polls

  • "Mouseland" by Tommy Douglas (Keifer Sutherland's granddad on Canadian politics)

  • REM's "Its the End of the World as We Know It" (and I feel fine)
