I'd Really Like to Get Off Politics, But...

Right now I can't. I know what you are thinking--this is a site for those who are thinking about moving out into the country, aka the rural remote, not politics. But here is the way I see it: like it or not, the person who becomes our next President does matter, even if you have managed to convice yourself that it doesn't. Now, normally, one has had every reason to think it doesn't matter who the next President is because all we ever have to choose from is CFR A or CFR B or as with 2004 Skull and Bones A or Skull and Bones B. But then again (despite my cynicism of the previous article), we don't quite have it that simple this time, because Ron Paul is also in the race and is actually making headway. I am not quite ready to conclude, however, that what his supporters want and the lengths they are going to to get what they want will come to fruition. It will take a great deal of work, first, to get Ron into first or second place in the primaries, and then to get him delegates to the Republican Convention. If I am wrong and I hope I am wrong, he will get the Repub nomination. BUT EVEN IF HE DOES GET THE POPULAR VOTE, EVEN IF IT IS CLOSE TO A LANDSLIDE, THAT STILL DOESN'T MEAN HE GETS TO BE PRESIDENT! Folks, I hate to break it to you, but THEY will still have the final say using the Electoral College! Now why do you think that this institution still exists? Because of the possibility that one day, THEY would have to use it to keep the will of the people out of power. Aren't THEY clever?

This is why media mavens like Geroge Stephanopolous and Tucker Carlson and Bill Maher and other media types who seem to actually want to support Ron Paul say that Ron Paul can't win and won't win. You can say what you want about the veracity of the media moguls and lackeys: these people know that any Presidential winner has to go through the Electoral College, and guess who controls the Electoral College? Right--THEM. So, again I am VERY HOPEFUL that I am wrong...because I'd rather be wrong than rounded up...but as I love to actually face reality and put reality above strong desire, I must bring you all, especially all of us Ron Paul supporters, back down to Earth. Stephanopolous is probably right as rain.

So, if someone was putting a gun to my head wanting me to pick the next Republican nominee, I'd say right now it'll either be Huckabee and his Dominionism or Romney and his Flip-flopism. Funny! Both remind me strongly of Democrats: Huckabee because he is the Republican Bill Clinton and Romney because he is the Republican John Kerry.

Now, as to the Democrats...

As late as a couple of weeks ago I thought Hillary was a shoo-in. Not now, after seeing all the scandal as to her funding sources in the MSM, after hearing her bash Obama's "Muslim-ness" (!) and just her general negativity. At this stage in the game, Hillary's trashing her rivals is suicidal. But on the other hand, that's her personality--Bill Clinton would have handled it better. Plus I just learned that Oprah has endorsed Obama. Really! Do you actually think I watch her show every day? I might be rural but I'm no redneck couch potato! Thinking that perhaps Oprah is even more powerful than even Hillary, I have to take that into consideration. Plus, Barack actually has some anti-war credentials, despite the fact that he has claimed to want to invade Pakistan and Iran. Maybe, but maybe also he said stuff like that to get AIPAC off his back. I know that Hillary is owned lock stock and barrel by the Israel Lobby. I am not sure about Obama, mostly because he hasn't been in the game quite so long, so he might actually still be at least partially his own person. Nor has he been that long in the CFR. This makes him more viable in my opinion than Edwards, who has CFR written all over him as he has written CFR position papers. And here is another thing about Obama: while Ron Paul could easily defeat Hillary with a kind of majority even the Electoral College might find impossible to ignore, Paul won't be able to do that to a candidate that close to 100% of blacks will vote for (now really, if you were black, would you rather vote for a white guy when you could vote for one of your own? I didn't think so!) And not only that, but Obama appeals almost as well to college kids as Paul does. Nor does Obama carry some of the (completely false) baggage leftists hang on Paul, who is (falsely accused of being) "someone who wants to put the elderly on the streets" or who "voted against FEMA funds for Katrina victims" or who (as Tucker Carlson says) "wants to end the social safety net." And then there are still idiots who claim that Paul is "racist" because of what some aide put in a 1995 Paul newsletter. And God forbid we should have a candidate who is against abortion (or is "for abortion" because Paul believes as per the Constitution that the Federal government has no right to regulate it and that it is a state issue...why can't you lefties get that straight?!). Finally, Obama has "hope" for America, just as with Paul's "Hope for America" slogan. So I'd have to say Paul and Obama just might go neck and neck...and guess who the Electoral College would choose even if the people wouldn't? Obama, of course, who says he will vote for the fascist Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Act" (Senate version, S 1959)

I will now go through the rest of the electible Democrats (sorry, Mike Gravel, this leaves you out, and I blame you for this, not campaigning seriously, just pissing off Hillary and Obama during the debates and being a stand-up comic, not a serious candidate!). Edwards couldn't bring Kerry over the top in 2004 and won't bring himself over the top in 2008...but he might make a decent vice-prez candidate this time as well. Bill Richardson, who isn't exactly anti-immigration but is pro-gun and also appears to be anti-war, gets a nod from me over Dennis Kucinich, who hates guns while claiming to be pro-constitution. Though Kucinich is trying to make a difference (impeach Cheney resolutions and voting against fascist legislation), he doesn't seem to go far enough. For one thing, he is doing very little in terms of getting support for his Presidential Campaign and doesn't have the grassroots support Paul does. Chris Dodd is almost as irrelevant as Gravel, and Joe Biden doesn't seem to be doing much either. Of Richardson, Edwards and Kucinich, my brain says Kucinich but my heart says Richardson, if only because he is Hispanic. Maybe he will push for Spanish Education in this country...one reason Americans are so ignorant of what is going on in the rest of the world is because so few of us speak a second language.

Finally, this will be my last post for the rest of the year. Merry Christmas! And when this site is updated I hope it is better designed. One thing I am thinking of doing is to list all the more recent posts on the home page and list the rest of the articles as I do now. But anyway, it will be more navigable. Plus I plan to research the best places to move if you are thinking of moving to a rural area. I think this is imperative, because I have a sinking feeling that more and more people are going to want to escape the cities when TSHTF in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
